Red Grant Regatta — July 13-15

The Raritan Yacht Club is proud to host its 66th Annual Red Grant Regatta and Charity Fundraiser to benefit the Visiting Nurses Association Health Group. The 2012 event consists of a one-day juniors regatta, a one-day cruising race, a two-day sailing Regatta, as well as a Friday night Charity auction and wine pairing fundraiser that will be held on July 13, 14 and 15. The Red Grant Regatta has proven year after year to be the largest and most anticipated auxiliary sailboat regatta in the state of New Jersey as a result of both on and off the water events. The Annual Red Grant Regatta was founded in honor of Adolph “Red” Grant, a local racer and veteran who lost his life in World War II at an early age. This prestigious event is a major part of Raritan Yacht Club’s 147-year history.

This year’s donations will be specifically for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Health Group, New Jersey’s largest nonprofit providers of home health care, hospice and communitybased care. VNA Health Groupis celebrating it Centennial this year and continues to fulfill its 100-year old mission of caring for all those in need irrespective of circumstance or ability to pay. Every day, VNA Health Group caregivers are providing services for 4,000 individuals throughout New Jersey including the elderly, terminally ill, children, and families, the disabled and vulnerable populations. Charitable contributions help ensure that VNA Health Group can never say “no” to anyone in need of care. This is a 501(C) 3 charity and all contributions (financial and product) will be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. VNA Health Group serves Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Monmouth, Middlesex, Mercer, Ocean, Somerset, and Union counties of New Jersey.

While the sailing season hasn’t started yet, we are hard at work securing sponsors for our event. Currently, we’ve signed Mount Gay Rum (REMY USA) as a Presenting Sponsor. Pim Van Hemmen will be our exclusive regatta photographer and sponsor the Sunday afternoon slide show.

Product Sponsorship Opportunities

This sponsorship category offers many companies focusing on brand awareness through marketing product, product samples or other promotional items. Examples of proposed product sponsorship include:

• Regatta Bag Inclusion: Regatta bags are distributed to all regatta entrants and committee members and provide an opportunity for direct delivery of your product, or collateral piece highlighting your product:
• Quantity needed: 120 of any one item
• Examples:  T-shirts, hats, product samples, mugs/cups, key-chains, pens, power/snack bars, sunglasses, suntan lotion, nautical products, tools, gadgets, etc)
• Juniors’ Race Items: The Junior Regatta will be held on Friday and provides our area youth sailors with an opportunity to be part of our annual regatta weekend and provide an opportunity to support out junior sailors and junior sailing program.
• Quantity needed: 70 of any one item
• Examples: T-shirts, hats, bags, product samples, lunch beverages)
• Raffle/Promo Items: Racers, spectators, and guests will have the opportunity to win prizes provided by our sponsors through contests run during the Friday Night Auction, Saturday afternoon and during the awards events.
• Quantity Needed: Sponsor’s discretion
• Examples: Jackets, free subscriptions, gift certificates, gear bags, nautical wear, boat gear, shirts, hats, etc
• Beverage/Liquor Sponsorship: An inevitable and integral aspect of any sailing regatta – Beverage sponsors. Mount Gay rum is the official hard liquor sponsor of Red Grant, however, we are offering an exclusive sponsorship opportunity to a beer, wine and soft beverage brand to showcase its products throughout the regatta, or sponsor a single day.
• Charity Auction Items: The annual charity auction benefiting the Visiting Nurses Association of Central New Jersey will be held on Friday night. Auction items are tax deductible. These items are generally NEW higher value products or services. (Examples: Dinner for 2 certificates, sports tickets, art work, airline tickets, bicycles, boats, gift baskets, model boats, foul weather gear, certificate for boat services, boat gear… the list is endless.)
